Patience and perseverance are rewarding. It has been a big challenge to get things moving in our pace working with the Government. However, I must say that good intentions and good partners help us achieve our goal. We look forward to having our Computer lab ready for official inauguration in February 2010 at Shri Sultan Senior Secondary School. Over 600 children and community youth are very eager to take benefit. The lab consists of 21 Computers with software, printer, projector and air conditioners. HOPE worldwide will run the facility providing free computer education to the school children and provide vocational courses to the youth through batches scheduled after/before the school hours at a nominal fee. We are looking for commited funding who could provide funds to cover the running cost. The cost for educating a child every month is only about Rs.50/-. This will be a first of its kind lab in whole of Pali District providing free computer learning to the poorest of the poor.
HOPE worldwide headquartered in New Delhi, delivers sustainable, high-impact, community-based services to the poor and the needy in India. In Rajasthan, HOPE worldwide established in January 2009, with a aim to empower children and young people by providing computer-based learning and spoken English training in government schools. This program will directly impact the most needy children and youth.

All the teachers and children welcomed the volunteers at Govt Primary school-Maderna Colony, Jodhpur. The volunteers introduced themselves and took different sessions. It was interesting to see that children no matter where they are from are so innocent and curious to learn, Jeremy Commented. It was exciting to see all the volunteers take classes of topics like drawing and painting, singing and dancing and rhymes on a big screen. Children enjoyed doing all the actions for the rhymes. At the end of the day all the Primary school students received a set Crayons.

Christmas celebrations
Visiting Jaipur with the volunteers during the Christmas holidays was fun. Jaipur city definitely reminds us of the historical past structures. We visited Jantar Mantar: calculating time and so accurate stands true even today, government museum, peaceful and beautiful: Birla Mandir and Aamer palace. Christmas get together was fun and the best part was gifts and sharing from invisible Santa.

Five Aussies create great memories for over 700 children
It was a continuous journey fully packed with events for the school children from one place to other covering Jodhpur, Pali and Jalore. The volunteers were no less than celebreties (the students took photographs, autographs and had numerous interactions...) The program was widely covered by the media... This was the first ever time that the students had oppurtunity to hear to interact with Australians. The activities included, sport day at Pali school, singing and dancing session, drawing and painting, spoken English, HOME ALONE 1 movie. Personally it was shocking to hear that in Govt Primary School- Rajendra Nagar in Jalore district the students colored for the first time in their lives... It did create amazing memories... the Rajasthan HOPE team would like to thank Jeremy Newton, Ada Tutt, Philip Tutt, Tim lumsden and Philip Tolot who took out two weeks on their own cost to spend time volunteering with HOPE worldwide programmes in Rajasthan....Vigil Wilson, Sunil, Devender, Mamta were the local volunteers without their efforts the program would not have been successful. This was a second event by the volunteers after the American embassy School volunteers. The Schools are in great need for Computer assisted learning and spoken English training, we are in the process to get the Government funding to establish the computer labs in seven schools, however we are seeking funds for running cost. We look forward to make it a culture in HOPE worldwide Rajasthan to have this programme orgranised periodically. (Posted by Mahaveer Jain)
